Gord Mellor was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and has always had an interest in photography. Gord began to seriously study photography through the W.I.A.A.S. and spent a couple of years working under a mentor, that knew his craft very well. This mentor specialized in the more formal photography of studio wedding and portraits.
Gord then mentored under Robert Watson. Bob was a photojournalist with the London Free Press and Regina Leader Post . Under Bob's tutelage, Gord progressed to
sports and event photography and also to pursue the more non-traditional style of wedding photography. Using a traditional approach to weddings you would find the wedding party in front of the fountain but with a non-traditional approach, you might find the wedding party actually in the fountain….a world of difference, a style limited only by your imagination and a lot more fun.
Gord's philosophy is that if you’re not having fun, go home! Thinking
outside the box to create that special memory is something he believes in and it is sometimes a welcome challenge.
Gord also believes that a great photographer can salvage any situation and never come up short, by capturing an image that will lovingly stand the test of time. It requires “focus” on the subject and zeroing in on the purpose of the picture.
Before photography, Gord evolved from a junior level football player to referee, to EMT (paramedic), to Regina Policeman and finally, in addition to photography, Gord is also a fire scene inspector that utilizes canines.
